Question

Vigenere Cipher uses a set of mono-alphabetic substitution rules to encrypt message. For example, with key (3 1 5), an encoder substitutes first letter in plaintext by letter+3, second letter by letter+1, third letter by letter+5. Please describe a known plaintext attacks against Vigenere Cipher

Answer #1

The classical cipher like Vigenere cipher is more vulnerable to the known plaintext attack . In the known plaintext attack against Vigenere cipher the attacker knows the set of pairs of plaintext-ciphertext. The picked plaintexts are can reveal the structure of the key . The requirement of the attack is encryption algorithm , plaintext and the corresponding ciphertext .

For example if the XOR cipher is used , the key can be obtained by XORing the plaintext and ciphertext (plaintext XOR ciphertext) a vector of m keys are obtained by this , By using the key the original plaintext is reconstructed .

The known plaintext attack can be controlled by following steps :

a) By reducing the use of a word more frequently

b) By reducing the use of any special words

c) By minimizing the validity of the key and by less number of sets of plaintext-ciphertext

This project will use The Vigenere Cipher to encrypt passwords. Simple letter substitution ciphers are ones in which one letter is substituted for another. Although their output looks impossible to read, they are easy to break because the relative frequencies of English letters are known. The Vigenere cipher improves upon this. They require a key word and the plain text to be encrypted. Create a Java application that uses: decision constructs looping constructs basic operations on an ArrayList of objects...

    1) Echo the input: First, you should make sure you can write a program and have it compile and run, take input and give output. So to start you should just echo the input. This means you should prompt the user for the plaintext, read it in and then print it back out, with a message such as "this is the plaintext you entered:". [4 points, for writing a working program, echoing the input and submitting the program on the...

**DO IT AS PYTHON PLEASE** The Trifid Cipher General Problem Description The Trifid cipher (not to be confused with the creatures from the classic science-fiction film "The Day of the Triffids") is an algorithm that enciphers a plaintext message by encoding each letter as a three-digit number and then breaking up and rearranging the digits from each letter's encoded form. For this assignment, you will create a set of Python functions that can encode messages using this cipher (these functions...

Write the programming C please, not C++. The main function should be to find the offset value of the ciper text "wPL2KLK9PWWZ7K3ST24KZYKfPMKJ4SKLYOKRP4KFKP842LK0ZTY43 " and decrypt it. In cryptography, a Caesar Cipher is one of the simplest and most widely known encryption techniques. It is a type of substitution cipher in which each letter in the plaintext is replaced by a letter some fixed number of positions down the alphabet. For example, with a left shift of 3, D would be...

Language: C Write an encoder and a decoder for a modified "book cipher." A book cipher uses a document or book as the cipher key, and the cipher itself uses numbers that reference the words within the text. For example, one of the Beale ciphers used an edition of The Declaration of Independence as the cipher key. The cipher you will write will use a pair of numbers corresponding to each letter in the text. The first number denotes the...
