Answer #1

Hybridisation is the mixing of orbitals to give orbitals of similar energy. Their geometry is determined using Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion Theory.

Alkenes (double bond) are generally sp2 hybridised with trigonal planar geometry.

Alkynes (triple bond) are sp hybridised with linear geometry.

Alkanes (single bond) are sp3 hybridised with tetrahedral geometry.

A, D, E, F re alkenes, sp2 hybridised with trigonal planar geometry.

B is an alkyne, sp hybridised with linear geometry.

C is an alkane, sp3 hybridised with tetrahedral geometry.
