Question

probability

A system is made up of three components placed in parallel that operate simultaneously. The probability that component no. 1 functions is equal to 0.9. In the case of component no. 2, this probability is equal to 0.95 if component no. 1 functions, and to 0.8 otherwise. Finally, the probability that component no. 3 functions are equal to 0.99 if components nos. 1 and 2 functions, to 0.75 if components nos. 1 and 2 do not function, and to 0.8 otherwise.

a) Calculate the probability that the system functions.

b) Given that the system functions, what is the probability that component no. 2

functions?

c) Calculate the probability that component no. 3 functions.

please help ... 4-23 The guidance system design of a satellite places several components in parallel. The system will function as long as at least one of the components is operational. In a particular satellite, 4 such components are placed in parallel. If the probability of a component operating successfully is 0.9, what is the probability of the system functioning? What is the probability of the system failing? Assume that the components operate independently of each other.
