Using your ammeter (remember current at the 5 points marked by Two junctions are marked by J1 & J2 in the Q1. If we were evaluating Kirchhoff s should we include? Do your me (within experimental error)? (i.e. A) Do a thought experiment and replace resistor C with one that is 2x larger than the value of resistors A, B, and D. How will the current through the new resistor C compare to resistor B? How will the voltage drop across the new resistor C compared to resistor B?

B) Now go back to thinking about identical resistors and continue this thought experiment by replacing all resistors with light bulbs (keep in mind that we are assuming that the resistance of the bulb does not change with brightness). What electrical criterion determines brightness? Rank the light bulbs in order of brightness from brightest to dimmest. If any have the same britness, indicate with an equal sign.

when the resistor C is replaced with 2 times larger value of resistors then the current will be reduced to half when compared with B
and

the voltage drop across the new resistor C will be same as that of resistor B, because these are in parallel combination

we know that when the resistors are in parallel combination the potential difference will be same across each resistor .


B)

   The electrical criteria determines the brightness of the bulbs is not its resistance , but it is its potential difference across ends

in the given circuit the potential will be divided across A, remaining will be across B,C and later across D

the ranking of brightness is


   A > B = C > D
