Which has the stronger bond, the H-C bond in CH4or the H-Si bond in SiH4 ?
Explain your answer based on a Lewis
structure.
from the lewis structure of CH4 and SiH4 the C-H bond in CH4 is stronger then the Si-H bond in SiH4
because the electron configration of C in CH4 is in s and p orbital but in SiH4 in Si it is n s,p and d orbital
so the attraction in outer shell electron and nucleous is greater in CH4
in SiH4 the bond length is 1.485 angstrom and in CH4 bond length is 1.092 angstrom
thats the reason that CH4 is stronger then SiH4
