dead load from floor = 60 psf

live load = 70 psf

tributary width = 10 ft

factored area load on beam = 1.2*60 + 1.6*70 = 184 psf

factored load on beam = 184*10=1840 plf = 1.84 klf

span of beam = 26 ft

maximum moment in beam = 1.84*262/8=155.5 kip-ft

given beam is continuosuly braced by deck. Therefore, plastic moment capapcity of beam will be mobilised

the lightest W-section beam that has plastic moment capacity greater than 155.5 kip-ft is W16x26
