Increase in dispersed phase flow rate at constant
continuous phase flow, the percentage of solute
in the extract phase increased initially and then
decreased because of axial mixing. As axial
mixing within the column reduces the efficiency
of the process by decreasing solute concentration
gradients, the mass transfer rate decreases as a
consequence. Whereas with increase in flow rate
of continuous phase for fixed dispersed phase
flow rate, the percentage of solute in the extract
phase continued to increase
