Explain how you might use the conflict management skills of managing emotions, information,goals, and problems in the following situation. You and your roommate agreed on a schedule and responsibilities for chores. At first, all went well. Then gradually , week after week, one excuse after another, your roommate began to fail to follow through. At first it was no big deal a dish here, a sock there. But now your roommate has left dishes in the sink for three days and hasn’t taken out the trash in a week; the bathroom is a mess, especially the shower. And the last straw is the large mustard stain in the middle of the living room floor. You are furious. You’ve let it slide long enough and decide to let her know how you feel.

There is chance of emergence of interpersonal conflicts between the room members due to difference in opinion on maintenance of cleanliness in room. There was opposing viewpoint among the two room members regarding the cleaning of room and the room was left dirty for a large amount of time due to lack of responsibility and carelessness for the maintenance of the health and hygiene conditions in the room. There are different skills which should be present while handling this interpersonal conflict between the two room members like as discussed in the following way like competing,avoiding each other, compromising, collaborating and accommodating each other for the welfare of both the roommates while handling the condition of maintenance of cleanliness in the room. There should be proper communication and understanding with availability of washer people for cleaning the dirty dishes and floor of the room if both of the roommates do not have enough time for cleaning of the room to remove the stains present on the floor. The first factor which needs to be discussed is the factor of--

• Avoiding the presence of each other in the room during the condition of conflict and argument. One of the members should stop the other person from talking or interacting during the development of hostile conditions in the room leading to harmful circumstances. There should be indirect ways of arriving at a situation which can lead to the development of proper communication and behavior between the two room members. One should not blame the other member in the room for the bad or unhygienic condition of the room which can cause the development of physical disease due to the entry of different microorganisms or pathogens.
• Accommodating- There should be accommodating behavior between the two room members and they should try not to humiliate and harass another in the present condition. Both of them should agree to spend money and arrange for a room servant to clean the floor and dishes.
• Compromising attitude--One should have a compromising attitude for the development of a condition of ambient and clear communication between the two room members without the emergence of condition of conflict and argument. One member should not directly blame the other person for the occurrence and prevalence of conditions of argument and bad behavior.
• Collaboration--One member should cooperate and collaborate with the other member in the room for the maintenance of conditions of proper health and hygiene.
• These are the management skills which should be governed and utilized while solving the argument between two roommates leading to the development of a healthy situation in life.
