On a trip to the Badlands, you and a friend decide to go repelling on a high and blind cliff. Your friend quickly drops his rope which was one end tied to a tree near the edge of the cliff, clips the carabiner attached to his harness onto the rope and begins his decent. You caution him saying "wait, wait. let me verify we have enough rope", he laughs and continues. You instead drop several stones one at a time, using a stopwatch feature on your cell phone, to estimate the elapsed free fall time of each, resulting in the following times: 4.75 s, 4.32 s, 4.19 s, 4,89s, and 5.10s. Your rope length is 25 ft. Should you participate in the decent?
