a car is at rest. the driver applies the gas petal to speed it up with a rate of 3.0m/s^2. How long does it take to travel a distance of 30m? The professor has the answer at (4.5s)

But i think its 10 s with Vf-Vi/a =T can you clarify?

Answer #1

by kinematics we have

d = v_i t + 0.5 at^2

30 = 0* t + 0.5 *3*t^2

t = 4.47 s
