Answer #1

Answer to 4.

Nickel boride is an inorganic compound. Its formula is NixBy. A general formula is Ni2B.It is used as a partial reducing agent. That is it is used for the hydrogenation of alkynes to alkenes (triple bond to double bond). It cannot be used for converting alkynes to alkanes.

Palladium on carbon often used as Pd/C is used as catalyst for hydrogenation in organic synthesis. it is used for reductive amination, carbonyl reduction, nitro compound reduction, the reduction of imines etc..This can be used for the reduction of alkynes to alkanes.

Alkynes and alkenes can be converted into alkanes by finely divided Nickel (Raney Ni) and Platinum

Lindars catalysts has three components: palladium on calcium carbonate with lead acetate and quinoline. Quionline helps to prevent the complete hydrogenation of alkyne to alkane. But it converts only alkenes to alkane.
