A rigid, insulated tank contains a certain amount of argon at room temperature 25o C and 500 kPa. Now the valve is opened and the argon is allowed to vent into atmosphere until 80% argon remains in the tank. Determine the final temperature of the argon in the tank. It is assumed the argon leaving the tank is at room temperature.

An insulated, rigid tank that is initially evacuated is connected by a valve to a nitrogen supply line. The nitrogen in the line flows at 30°C and 80 kPa. The valve is then opened and nitrogen flows into the tank until the pressure reaches 80 kPa; at which point the valve is closed. Using constant specific heats at room temperature (Cp = 1.039 kJ/kgK, Cv = 0.743 kJ/kgK, k. = 1.3984), determine the final temperature of the nitrogen in the...

4-40 4.40 A rigid, insulated tank consists of two compartments of equal volume separated by a valve. Initially, one compartment contains air at a pressure of 750 kPa and a temperature of 50°C, while the second compartment is completely empty. The valve is opened and it remains open until the two compartments reach pressure and temperature equilibrium. Determine the final pressure and temperature of the air, assuming each compartment has a volume of 0.65 m'.
