Question 3 Microprocessors 3a) Embedded Computers Imagine you are working on the design of a home air conditioning control panel. It will be battery powered, wall mounted, have a keypad and an LCD display, and will communicate with the rest of the air conditioning system using an Ethernet network. It will also contain electronic temperature and humidity sensors and will report readings from these back to the rest of the air conditioning system. Briefly describe 3 major features you will consider when you choose the microcontroller for this system. In your answer explain why the feature is required for this project. An example is provided. Your answer should identify 3 features different to the one in the example. Number of digital I/O pins: the micro-controller should have sufficient digital I/O pins to connect to the rest of the hardware, including the buttons, LCD and network interface.

Answer:- The three major features that the micro-controller must have-

1. Ethernet module:- The micro-controller must have the ethernet module to communicate with the AC.
2. ADC and DAC module:- Analog to Digital Converter and Digital to Analog Converter are used for the temperature sensor and humidity sensors. The voltage values from sensors are analog voltage. Hence to make it in digital form and again in analog, we need ADC and DAC.
3. Sleep mode facility:- Since it a battery-powered system, the controller must have a sleep mode facility so that when the AC is off, the controller goes to low power mode or sleep mode.
