For some reason I am getting errors in this code. It is saying that the variables are not visible. I will be providing one of the methods as well as the Node class. This is for a Linked list in Java.
Here is the method giving me errors saying "the field Node<E>.item is not visible" as well as "Node<E>.next is not visible.
public void addFirst(E e)
{
// adds element e to the front of the list
Node<E> node =
new Node<>(e);
node.item = e;
node.next = head;
head = node;
if(tail == null)
tail =
head;
}
Here is the Node class
public class Node<E extends Comparable<E>> {
private E
item;
// reference to the element stored at this node
private Node<E>
next; // reference
to the subsequent node in the list
/**
* Creates a node with the given element
and next node.
*
* @param e the element to be stored
* @param n reference to a node that should
follow the new node
*/
public Node(E e, Node<E> n) {
item = e;
next = n;
}
public Node(E e) {
item = e;
next = null;
}
// Accessor methods
public E getItem() { return item; }
public Node<E> getNext() { return next;
}
// Modifier methods
public void setNext(Node<E> n) { next = n;
}
} //----------- end of nested Node class -----------
public void addFirst(E e) { // adds element e to the front of the list Node<E> node = new Node<>(e); // here .item is not required, since we are already setting that using the constructor above node.setNext(head); // use setNext instead of .next head = node; if (tail == null) tail = head; }
For some reason I am getting errors in this code. It is saying that the variables...
public class myLinkedList<E extends Comparable<E>>{ private Node<E> head = null; private Node<E> tail = null; public myLinkedList() { head = null; } public void concatenateList (myLinkedList<E> M) {//attach another linkedList refered by M to the end of this linkedList } public int searchElement (E targetElement){//test if a target element can be found on the list, return the occurrences of the target element ...
Data Structures - Singly Linked Lists You will add a method swapNodes to SinglyLinkedList class (below). This method should swap two nodes node1 and node2 (and not just their contents) given references only to node1 and node2. The new method should check if node1 and node2 are the same node, etc. Write the main method to test the swapNodes method. You may need to traverse the list. package linkedlists; public class SinglyLinkedList<E> implements Cloneable { // ---------------- nested Node class...
Java Programming: The following is my code: public class KWSingleLinkedList<E> { public void setSize(int size) { this.size = size; } /** Reference to list head. */ private Node<E> head = null; /** The number of items in the list */ private int size = 0; /** Add an item to the front of the list. @param item The item to be added */ public void addFirst(E...
Q1: You can find a file that defines the CircularlyLinked List class similar to what we discussed in the class. Download the file and work on it. Your task is to: 1. Complete the missing methods in the file as discussed in the class. Search for the comment/" MISSING / in the file to see the methods that need to be completed. 2. Add the following methods to the class a. public Node getMin 1. Task: find the node with...
Here is the IntegerLinkedList_incomplete class: public class IntegerLinkedList { static class Node { /** The element stored at this node */ private int element; // reference to the element stored at this node /** A reference to the subsequent node in the list */ private Node next; // reference to the subsequent node in the list /** * Creates a node with the given element and next node. * * @param e the element to be stored * @param n...
5. Given the following class definition, write Java code that implements the addFirst method public class MyLinkedList<E> { private Node<E> head, tail; private int size 0; // Number of elements in the list /** Add an element to the beginning of the list */ public void addFirst (E e) { private static class Node<E> { E element; Node<E> next; public Node (E element) { = element; this.element
solve this Q in java languege Write a method that return DoublyLinkedList as reversed string For example: If the elements of a list is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 the reverse string should be 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 implement reverse method you have two steps: 1- you should start traversing from the last element of DoublyLinkedList (the previous of the trailer) 2- you should add the element inside each node to string don't forget the space in...
Consider java for fixing this code please: what i need is to insert method to be added ( please don't change the test class and any giving value in the first class ) here is the correct out put: ------------------testAddLast()---- {A} {A->B} {A->B->null} {A->B->null->C} ----------------------------- --------testSubListOfSmallerValues()---------- {} {B->B->B->A} {F->B->B->B->A->D} {F->B->B->G->B->A->M->D} ----------------------------- ------------Test lastIndexOf()----- -1 3 -1 -1 0 5 2 ----------------------------- ---------testRetainAll()--------- {} {6:Tony->6:Tony} {null->bad->null} ----------------------------- ---------------Test removeStartingAtBack--- false true {apple->null->bad->null} true {apple->null->bad} {2:Morning->3:Abby->4:Tim->5:Tom->6:Tony} ----------------------------- ---------test insertionSort()--------- {} {D} {D->E->E->F->G}...
Writing a method retainAll for Circular Doubly-Linked List: I am working on an assignment creating a Circular Doubly Linked List and am having serious trouble creating a method retainAll. Here's the code, and my attempt. Initialization: public class CDoublyLinkedList { private class Node { private Object data; //Assume data implemented Comparable private Node next, prev; private Node(Object data, Node pref, Node next) { this.data = data; ...
In Java Language. Modify the LinkedPostionalList class to support a method swap(p,q) that causes the underlying nodes referenced by positions p and q to be exchanged for each other. Relink the existing nodes, do not create any new nodes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- package lists; import java.util.Iterator; import java.util.NoSuchElementException; public class LinkedPositionalList implements PositionalList { //---------------- nested Node class ---------------- /** * Node of a doubly linked list, which stores a reference to its * element and to both the previous and next...
