Question

Ultrasound is one of many experimental treatments used for soft tissue injuries. In an experiment to gauge the efficacy of this treatment for knee injuries, seven subjects with recent knee injuries were enrolled in a trial. The range of motion (in degrees) of the joint was measured first. After a prescribed ultrasound treatment, the range of motion was measured again. Table 1 below contains the pre and post treatment responses from each of these subjects. Table 1: Knee extensions (degrees) before and after ultrasound 35.7 63.4 35.7 48.4 Pre 54.3 58.5 64.0 51.3 78.4 38.6 54.2 45.4 66.2 44.9 Diff .1 13.1 27.7 12.7 -2.2 27.1 A) In the table above, enter the differences (computed Pre Post) in the empty cells B) Based on the sample, the average difference in the pre and post treatment responses is -8.97 C) The margin of error for a 98% confidence interval for the true average difference in knee extension before versus after ultrasound treatment is 19.00. Determine the lower and upper limits for the confidence interval (2 decimal places) Lower Limit (2 decimal places) Upper Limit: (2 decimal places) D) Based on the results of this study, at α 0.02 we can conclude that: Select

A student ran a between-subjects experiment comparing three treatments for depression: cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered therapy (CCT), and a no-treatment condition. Subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental condi- tion. After a sufficient duration on these treatments, the difference in subject’s depression scores pre/post study were measured using a valid depression assessment instrument. The data are summarized in the tables below. Conduct a Oneway ANOVA with α = 0.05 by first completing the values in the lower table, then using...

My Ask You C-reactive protein (CRP) is a substance that can be measured in the blood. Values increase substantially within & hours of an infection and reach a peak within 24 to 48 hours after. In adults, chronically high values have been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. In a study of apparently healthy children aged 6 to 60 months in Papua New Guinea, CRP was measured in 90 children. The units are milligrams per liter (mg/l). Here...

An experimenter wants to know if having a pet or friend present while taking a stressful math test helps reduce anxiety. She recruits 120 people to participate in the study and each person takes a difficult math test under a strict time limit. The participants are also randomly assigned to take the test alone, with a friend in the room, or with a therapy dog in the room. After taking the test, participants completed a survey that assessed how stressful...
