Motional emf An airplane with a wingspan 60.0m flies horizontally toward the east with a speed of 250m/s . If the plane is flying through a region where the magnetic field is directed vertically away form the ground with a field strength of 5.00 E−6T , what is the induced emf between the wing tips? (show all work and units)

For the problem above which wing tip will have a higher potential? (hint you may want to draw a diagram looking down on the plane, with N, E, S, and W marked)

Answer #1

Induced emf = d\Phi/dt=Blv

=5×e-6×60×250

= 75000×e-6 V

So induced voltage is equal to 0.075000V
