Question 1 Unsaved

You are designing an experiment for a research project. A very delicate computer sensor requires that it be operated at a voltage of 6 V and a power of 3.5 W. If the wires connecting the experiment to its power source have a total resistance (for all wires) of 0.7 Ω and the power supply has an interenal resistance of 0.9 Ω, what must you design the EMF of the power source to be?

Your answer should be in volts to 3 significant figures. Do not include units in your answer.

Answer #1

We know that

Power P =V*I

I =P/V =3.5/6 =0.583A

The load resistance is given by

RL =6V/(0.583A) =10.29ohms

what must you design the EMF of the power source to be V = (0.583)(0.9+0.7+10.29) =6.929V

    Simulate a Sensor to control an alarm Before you attempt this assignment, it is suggested you understand circuits (and the Arduino code) 1B and 1C. Sensor That being said, in this assignment, we’ll be mimicking an Infrared Sensor (detects objects) by utilizing the potentiometer. The potentiometer will provide us voltage potential that we can vary from 0V to 5V (similar to 1B). This voltage potential represents the output of a sensor. Assume the sensor cannot detect anything beyond 10 yards....

    When you ask why they are late with their share of the rent (again), your roommate explains that they would like to invest the money into buying inexpensive force sensors for about $10 each. They think they can use these to make cheap electronic drum kits and sell them at a profit. The idea is to connect a force sensor acting as a switch between a 9 V battery and an old 50 Ω (load resistance) speaker. Each customer will...
