Kindly post the exercise too next time.

The exercise says that we need to write a method that computes the commision using the scheme in exercise 5.39

Following is the required code for above mentioned question. The code has been compiled and run in Eclipse Oxygen and is a genuine piece of work.

The code BEGINS from here:

public class ComputeCommisions {

public static void main(String[] args) {

System.out.printf("%-14s %-14s\n", "SalesAmount", "Commission");

for(int i = 10000; i <= 100000; i += 5000) {

System.out.printf("%-14d %-14.2f\n", i, computeCommission(i));

}

}

// Method computeCommission computes the commission

public static double computeCommission(double salesAmount) {

double commission; // holds the commission

// If sales amount is above $10000.00, commission rate is 12%

if(salesAmount > 10000) {

commission = (5000 * 0.08) + (5000 * 0.1) + (salesAmount - 10000)

* 0.12;

}

// If sales amount is above $5000.00 and less than $10000.00, commission rate is 10%

else if (salesAmount > 5000){

commission = 5000 * 0.08 + (salesAmount - 5000) * 0.1;

}

// if sales amount is less than $5000

else {

commission = salesAmount * 0.08;

}

return commission;

}

}

The code ENDS here!
