5.b) For cycle ergometry, relative VO2 is given by

VO2 = ? Power kg.m/min) x 1. 8 Mass(kg) 2

Putting the values,

VO2= 650 x 1.8 --+7) mL/kg.min = 19.45 ml/kg.min 94

This is the relative V02

a) Absolute Vo2 is given in the units of L/min

Hence, Absolute VO2 is given by

19.45 L 1000 94 kg ^ 1 kg = 1.83 L/min 1 min

6) The cycle ergometer is kept at 2.5 kp i.e.,

2.5 kilopond.m

We know,

1 kilopond.m= 9.8 N.m

2.5 kilopond.m = (9.8 x 2.5) N.m= 24.5 N.m

We also know, power P is given by the product of force F and velocity v

P = 2

or 150 F=245 m/s = 6.12 m/s

this is how fast he is pedaling.
