1. ANSWER: The second costal cartilage corresponds to the sternal angle and so is readily found that is used as a starting point from which to count the ribs.

Jugular notch- In the bottom of neck in between the two clavicle above tha manubrium sterni there will be a notch called the jugular notch or the fossa jugularis sternalis.

2. Sternal angle corresponds to the second rib that joints with the sternum with its costal cartilage. It is used for counting the ribs as the first rib is impalpable.

3. ANSWER: Costochondritis is the inflammation of the costal cartilage that connects the rib to the sternum. It is due to trauma of blunt force, infectious disease like tuberculosis, syphilis, certain types of arthritis, tumor jn the costo sternal angle. The treatment of this condition includes the use of NSAIDs, painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs, amityptine, oral corticosteroid or local steriod on the site. Exercise is not the cause for this comdition but it can trigger and worsen the conditon.
