How do you determine mmols of acid and the mg of CO2 with this
set of data?
Na2CO3 + 2 HCl
2 NaCl + H2O + CO2
To calculate milli moles of acid (HCl)
For trail 1:
moles = mass of acid / molar mass
Molar mass of acid (HCl) = 36.5 g/mol
Mass of acid = mass of erlenmeyer flask with acid - mass of empty erlenmeyer flask
= 26.779 - 26.713
= 0.066 moles
1 mole = 1000 milli moles
Milli moles of acid = 66 milli moles
As acid is limiting reagent so it will determine the amount of product formed.
According to above balanced reaction
2 moles of acid react to form 1 mole of CO2
0.066 mole of acid react to form (1 x 0.066)/2
= 0.033 mole of CO2
Mass = moles x molar mass
Molar mass of CO2 = 44 g/mol
Mass of CO2 = 44 x 0.033
= 1.452 g = 1452 mg of CO2

Using your data, calculate the % by mass of aspirin in the tablet DATA: 1. Make two solutions; Add 1 tablet of aspirin to an erlenmeyer flask 2. using a 50mL pipette, add 50.0mL of NaOH to the tablets in the...
II. Digestion of Acetylsalicylic acid(standard and tablet) with NaOH . Digestion of Acetylsalicylic Acid Standard to Prepare Stock Solution: Obtain ca. 0.1 g dried acetylsalicylic acid (MM = 180.16 g/mol), accurately weighed, and quantitatively transfer to a 125-ml Erlenmeyer flask. Add 5 ml 1.0 M NaOH and heat mixture to boiling on a hot plate. This will hydrolyze the acetylsalicylic acid to sodium salicylate. If necessary, rinse down the walls of the Erlenmeyer with DI water to ensure complete hydrolysis...

How do I calculate the concentrations for my data sheet lab. I
have not started my lab yet but I just need to see how i would
calculate it with absorbance. Do i just use Beer's law or is there
any other method of solving the concentrations.

In lab you determine the mass of an empty Erlenmeyer flask to be 53.5g. After adding metal, the mass of the flask is now 95.6g. After filling the flask up to the top with water, its mass is now 130.0g You then empty the flask and refill it entirely with water. The mass of the flask full of water is 103.5g What is the density of the metal in g/ml? (The density of water is 1.00g/ml). You have 865g of...

In this experiment you will use an oxidation - reduction titration to determine the percent of oxalate ion, CO2 in an unknown sample containing oxalate ion. Potassium permanganate (KMnO.) will be titrated against the oxalic acid (C2H:08) as shown by the following oxidation-reduction reaction: +3 +7 5C,044 2MnO4 + 16H* → 10CO, 8H0 + 2Mn2 +4 + + Mno. Mn? is the reduction process C2042 → CO2 is the oxidation process The underlying principle behind a titration is that an...
Question 4 (1 point) 0.444 g of an unknown diprotic acid is dissolved in about 60 mL of water in a beaker. The solution is transferred to a 100.00 mL volumetric flask, which is then filled up to the mark. The solution is mixed by inverting multiple times. 25.00 mL of this solution is then transferred to an Erlenmeyer flask for the titration. What mass of the diprotic acid is in the 25.00 mL that is transferred? Provide your answer...
