Answer #1

A= { -2, - 1, 0 , 1 , 2 , 3, 4, 5 }
B = { 1,2,3,4,5,6}
C = {4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12}

a) A U B = {-2, - 1, 0 , 1 , 2 , 3, 4, 5, 6 } => { x \varepsilon R | -3 < x < 7}

b) B \cap C = {4, 5, 6 } => { x \varepsilon R | 4 <= x <= 6}

c) ( A U B )  \cap C => {4, 5, 6 } => { x \varepsilon R | 4 <= x <= 6}

Proof: Suppose 2 is in one-to-one correspondence with R. Then by definition of one- to-one correspondence there is a 1-to-1 and onto function B:R 2. Therefore, for each x in R, ?(x) is a function from R to {0, 1]. Moreover, since ? is onto, for every...
