a)

Let us consider 1 mol of compound HBr

So mass of H will be = 1 g

mass of Br will be = 80 g

total mass of one mole = 1 g + 80 g = 81 g

Mass fraction of H = ( mass of H / total mass)

= ( 1 g / 81 g )

= 0.012

mass fraction of Br = 1 - mass fraction of H

= 0.988

b)

1 mol of HBr has one mole H and one mole Br

total mole of both H and Br = 1 + 1 = 2

mol fraction Br = ( mol Br / total mole)

= 1 / 2

= 0.5
