Answer #1

Electric field at P due to q2

E2=Kq2/x^{2}

K=electrostatic constant

q2=2\muC

E2=KX2/x^{2}

Electric field at P due to q1

E1=Kq1/(2-x)^{2}

q1=8\muC

E1=KX8/(2-x)^{2}

At P as the total field is zero, E1 cancells E2

Equating E1 and E2

E1=E2

KX8/(2-x)^{2}=KX2/x^{2}

4/(2-x)^{2}=1/x^{2}

taking square root

2/(2-x)=1/x

2x=2-x

3x=2

x=2/3=.67m

option a
