Answer #1

Answer:-

1. In a windows environments, what devices will run the DNS service?

Ans:-Domain controllers

explanation:- In Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, DNS servers running on read-only domain controllers (RODCs) host Active Directory-integrated copies of all zones. However, because the zone is read-only, the DNS server cannot make any updates to the zones that it hosts.

To support staged migration, you can deploy DNSSEC in a mixed environment with some DNS servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 and other DNS servers running Windows Server 2012 or a later operating system.

The following specifications apply to mixed-mode deployments:

  • Updated DNSSEC standards (ex: NSEC3) that are available in Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 R2 are incompatible with DNS servers running Windows Server 2008 R2. As a result, servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 will load zones that are signed on Windows Server 2012 as unsigned zones.

  • Zones that are signed on (legacy) DNS servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 are compatible with some DNSSEC operations on (current) DNS servers running Windows Server 2012 or a later operating system. DNSSEC-related resource records (ex: RRSIG, DNSKEY) in these zones will be loaded on current DNS servers and the zones will be capable of DNSSEC validation. However, the zone will not appear to be signed in DNS Manager or using current Windows PowerShell cmdlets.

  • Trust anchors that are created on legacy DNS servers can be imported and will be displayed on current DNS servers using the DNS Manager console or Windows PowerShell. The format of trust anchors is the same in both legacy and current operating systems.

2. This service is needed to automatically distribute and assign IP addresses to new and existing devices connecting to the network.

Ans:-DHCP

explanation:-DHCP is a network protocol that uses a DHCP server to control the distribution of network parameters, such as IP addresses, allowing systems to automatically request these parameters.

By default, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is enabled for your appliance. DHCP is a network protocol that uses a DHCP server to control the distribution of network parameters, such as IP addresses, allowing systems to automatically request these parameters. This reduces the need to manually configure settings. In this case, when checked, an IP address is obtained from the DHCP server and is removed from the pool of available IP addresses.

Assign a default gateway, selecting which ethernet port to use. Enter an IP address for one or more DNS servers. If DHCP is enabled, the DHCP lease provides you with a default gateway as well as a listing of DNS servers in order of preference. Any statically configured DNS servers listed in the Custom DNS Servers field are attempted to be reached first, followed by DNS servers received from DHCP. In the event that these local DNS servers are unavailable, the Fallback to OpenDNS Servers option enables the Secure Remote Access

3. This service is needed on the network to resolve hostnames to IP addresses, and sometimes IP addresses to hostnames.

Ans:-

DNS

explanation:-

DNS is a distributed database system that translates hostnames to IP addresses and IP addresses to hostnames (for instance it might translate hostname miles.

DNS is designed to forward queries and responses between clients and servers, so that servers may act on behalf of clients or other servers. This capability is very important to your ability to build a firewall that handles DNS services securely.
