Question

RG = 125 Ω i 100 e/o Z, ZL -50-i217 Ω z=0 Zin21. An open-wire transmission line is constructed of two parallel wires spaced 3 cm apart, each of 1.29 mm radius. At 100 MHz, the line has these constants: r-600 Ω/km, € 1 .3 mH/km, c = 8.8 nF/km, and g is negligible (a) Calculate the characteristic impedance Zo and the propagation constant y of the trans- mission line. (b) A 500-m section of this transmission line is terminated by an antenna of impedance ZL-50-j217 Ω at 100 MHz as shown in Figure P7.21. To test the antenna- transmission-line operation, a generator of voltage VO-100er V and internal resis- tance of RG-125 Ω, is connected to the other end of the line as also shown in Figure P7.21. Determine the admittance Y that should be connected to the input terminal of the line so that the generator will see an input impedance Zin that is matched to the generator internal resistance.
