When NO2 is dissolved in water. It reacts with water to form nitric acid. Nitric acid is known as one of the components of acid rain. The chemical reaction is shown below:

3NO2 + H2O → 2HNO3 + NO

Therefore, NO2 is acidic when dissolved in water.

(c) Na2O

Sodium oxide (Na2O) is a strongly basic salt. It gives sodium hydroxide on reaction with water. The chemical reaction is as follows:

Na2O + H2O → 2NaOH

Therefore, Na2O is basic when dissolved in water.

(d) CaO

Calcium oxide (CaO) has a basic chemical nature. It gives calcium hydroxide on reaction with water. The chemical reaction is as follows:

CaO+H20 + Ca(OH),

Therefore, CaO is basic when dissolved in water.
