Question

An industrial engineer is conducting an experiment on eye focus time. He is interested in the effect of the distance of the object from the eye on the focus time. Four different distances are of interest. He has five subjects available for the experiment. Because there may be differences among individuals, he decides to conduct the experiment in a randomized block design. The data obtained follow. Analyze the data from this experiment (use α = 0.05) and draw appropriate conclusions. You must complete this ANOVA table by hand showing the formula you are using for each step.

A team of comparative psychologists are interested in the maternal behavior or rats. In an experiment, 10, 20, and 30 day-old rat pups were separated from their mothers. They then recorded the time (in seconds) required for the mother rats to retrieve the pups. The psychologists were interest in whether retrieval time varies with age. The data are given below. What can be concluded with an α of 0.05? 10 days old 20 days old 30 days old 16 11...

    3. Reaction time experiment (L. Cai, T. Li, Nishant, and A. van der Kouwe, 1996) The experiment was run to compare the effects of auditory and visual cues on speed of response of a human subject. A personal computer was used to present a "stimulus" to a subject, and the reaction time required for the subject to press a key was monitored. The subject was warned that the stimulus was forthcoming by means of an auditory or a visual cue....

    4. Repeated-measures ANOVA Aa Aa Suppose you are interested in studying whether lighting brightness affects spatial reasoning abilities. You decide to test spatial reasoning using completion time scores for the paper-folding test with five people, repeating the test on each person with three different lighting levels (800, 1,000, and 1,200 lux) In this experiment, the null hypothesis is that: O There are no individual differences in the completion time means O The completion time mean for at least one lighting...
