Answer #1

(a)

According to ohm's law,

Current through a electrical circuit due to voltage,V aplied through a an electrical resistance R is,

I= V/R

Given,

Voltage, V = 120 volt.

Resistance,R = 40 ohm

So, current in the circuit, I = V / R = 120/40 = 3 ampeare.

(b)

Now,

Power in a circuit due to current flow I and voltage applied V is,

P = IV

= 3 × 120 = 360 Watt.

So power in the circuit is 360 Watt.
