Answer #1

Answer

(A) we know that

pH= -log[H3O+]

here [H3O+] = hydronium ion concentration = 4.3*10^-8 M

pH= -log[4.3*10^-8 ] = -[-7.36] = 7.36

(B)

[H3O+] = 8.4*10^-2 M

pH= -log[8.4*10^-2 ] = -[-1.08] = 1.08

(C)

pH+pOH = 14 or pH= 14-pOH

pOH= -log[OH-] = -log[1.0*10^-5]= -[-5]= 5

  pH= 14-pOH= 14-5 = 9.00

(D)

pOH= -log[OH-] = -log[0.008]= -[-2.09]= 2.10

pH= 14-pOH= 14-2.10 =11.90
