The key points in the essay "Mother Tongue" by Amy Tan are as follows :

1) Language influences almost everything.

2) Speaking abilities limits one's possibilties in life.

3) Language acts both as a means of connecting as well as disconnecting people.

Amy tan's essay seems to target the section of well read people who carry prejudices against those who can't speak proper English or any other language for that matter. There are plenty of examples to support this argument. Tan's account of people reacting to her usage of english language and her mother's usage of english language clearly depicts society's different responses to different usage of English by people. Tan clearly depicts how challenging it is for an individual to be raised in a family where members speak nonstandard english. Tan describes the difficulties and prejudices her mother experienced because of her broken english. Tan also describes how sometimes she used to fell ashamed of her mother's english and she thought it needs to be fixed.

Language is medium to express our ideas , thought . Language is powerful components rhat can impact to a large number of people. Language is abiltity to connecting yourself with the world .But speaking abilities are not equal to alll . Some people are very elquent.but other people are used broken language . They are not able to express themselves through language . They have poor speaking . Wheather it is mother tounge or english language. Tan's whose mother is speaking non standard english creates great challenge for her . Even broken english of her mother feel ashamed to her . Low standard of language ability also affects human personlality. His way of communication skill will be not effectual .language affects every sphere of life . If we are not able to show good speaking ablity then our proffesional and social life will not be significant and remarkable.
