Answer #1

EDS is an analytical capability that can be coupled with several application including SEM . EDS when combined with these imaging tools, can provide elemental analysis on areas as small as nanometers in diameter.Acquistion of upto eight signals at once during a scan.Eight characteristics xray emissions lines may be acquired at once to map 8 elements. Alternatively one of the channels may be dedicated to acquiring a secondary electron or a backscatter election image while 7 elements aee detected. Spot, line and area maps of elements can be generated. These maps may be color codedewith several elemental maps superimposed on the secondary electron or backscatterd electron images. While secondary electron image may have a resolution of a few nanometers ,the x-ray emission spectrum has a much larger volume of material as it source .x rays are emitted throughout the volume of material into which the electron beam is scatrerd and decelerated ,so the resolution is commonly 1 micrometer laterally and about 1-2 micrometers in depth

"In my opinion, we ought to stop making our own drums and accept that outside supplier's offer," said Wim Niewindt, managing director of Antilles Refining. N.V. of Aruba. "At a price of $19 per drum, we would be paying $6.45 less than it costs us to manufacture the drums in our own plant. Since we use 60,000 drums a year, that would be an annual cost savings of...

Researchers conducted a follow-up study predicting the outcomes of races in the House of Representatives with 189 correct predictions out of 279. Using a simulation and the 25D method, the 95% confidence interval is (0.62, 0.74) and using a theory-based approach, the 95% confidence interval for these data is (0.62,0.73). During the recovery from the Great Recession of 2007-2009, the economic situation for many families improved. However, in 2011 the recovery was slow and it was uncertain as to how much had really changed on the national level. To estimate the national average of the percent of low-income working families, a representative simple random sample of the percent of low-income working families from each of the country’s reporting jurisdictions could be used to calculate a point estimate and create a...

    7) Name four reagents you can use to dry solvent. Why do we use magnesium sulfate in this lab instead of them? Introduction Alkyl halides can be prepared from alcohols by reactions with hydrogen halides (HCI, HBr, or HI) via nucleophilic substitution. In this type of reaction, the nucleophile displaces a leaving group from a carbon atom of an organic substrate (here the alcohol once protonated). Both electrons of the new bond to the carbon are provided by the nucleophile...
