The given above reaction is the example of a redox reaction. The reaction that contains the both oxidation and reduction simultaneously.

The oxidation is the process in which the loss of electron or increase in the oxidation number or oxidation state. The reduction is the process in which the gain of an electron or decrease in the oxidation number or oxidation state.

The oxidized species acts as a reducing agent since reducing agent is the species which gets oxidized and force to others get reduced. The reduced species acts as an oxidizing agent since the oxidizing agent is the species that gets reduced and force to others get oxidized.

In the above-given reaction Cl- transformed from -1 oxidation state to 0. The oxidation state increased, hence Cl-(aq) gets oxidized and also acts as a reducing agent. The F2(g) transformed from 0 oxidation state to -1. The oxidation state decreased, hence F2(g) gets reduced and also acts as an oxidizing agent.
