Answer #1

sol:-

ionisation energy :- energy require to remove electron from outermost orbit.

ionisation energy depends upon following factor:-

  • it decrease when the shell number or radius of any element increase
  • it increases if Zeff (net attraction of electron in orbital) increases.
  • it is high for half and fully filled orbital.
  • it also depends upon orbital as follows, s > p > d > f

from question,

electronic configuration of :-

Ca = [Ar] 4s2

Ga = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p1

K = [Ar] 4s1

Ge = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p2

As = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p3

Se = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p4

Br = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p5

Kr = [Ar] 4s2 3d10 4p6

all these element are from same period so along period Zeff increases so ionisation energy will also increase

so ionisation energy trend is :-

Kr > Br > As > Se > Ge > Ca > Ga > K

Ca > Ga because Ca is fully filled and Ga is not fully filled.

As > Se because As is half filled while Se is not half filled it can be half filled by loosing one electron.
