Option a is the correct answer as it is not the correct statement.

Explanation:-

The value of m is determined by the value of l and the value of l for orbitals are 0 for s, 1 for p, 2 for d and 3 for f. Now, the value of m = 2l + 1

If we put the value of l for p I.e., 1 we get m = 2×1 + 1 = 3.

Therefore the first statement is not correct which is the answer to the question.

The magnetic quantum number m identifies the orientation of orbital in space. Ergo, b is not the right answer as the statement is correct.

For s orbital there is only one possible value that is 0. From the formula m = 2l + 1 where l = 0 for s and m = 1. Therefore the statement is correct.

The value of m determine the number of possible orientation in space the exact orientation is determined by moving from +l to -l in integer step. For example m for p orbital is 3 then it's values are +1, 0, -1.

For s m = 1 then it's value is 0 as value of l for s is 0.
