Answer #1

As per the Aufbau's principle, the electrons are filled in an order of 1s,2s,2p and s orbital contain maximum two electrons, p contains 6, d contains 10 and f contains maximum 14 electrons in it. Therefore electronic sublevel with maximum number of electrons is as follows:-

1s 2s 2p 3s 3p 4s 3d 4p 5s 4p 5d 6s 4f 5d 6p 7s 5f 6d 7p 8s
2 2 6 2 6 2 10 6 2 6 10 2 14 10 6 2 14 10 6 2

Excercise 1:-

For any neutral element, atomic number and electronic number are same. Therefore for boron it is 5.

As per above order, electronic configuration of boron is 1s2 2s2 2p1.

For Neon, atomic number and electron number are 10. Therefore electronic configuration is as follows:-

1s2 2s2 2p6.

For Magnesium, atomic and electronic number is 12. Therefore electronic configuration is

1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2

For silicon, atomic and electronic number is 14. Therefore electronic configuration is

1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p2

For phosphorous, atomic and electronic number is 15. Therefore electronic configuration is

1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3.
