Hi there, the following are helpful to identify and categorize given set of particles to respective classification.

1. Look for charge, if it is negative then it is anion and if it is positive then it is cation.

2. Now look whether charged particle is single atom (monoatomic) or combination of atoms (polyatomic)

3. If single elemental atom provided (look at periodic table of elements) then we can say it as atom

4. If a neutral molecule is identified then look for it's solubility. Ionic compounds soluble in polar solvents like water and produces ions (cation & anion). If given neutral molecule is insoluble in water and soluble in non-polar solvents like carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) then it is simply molecule.

5. Finally look at the structure of given particle either in text book or online for more accurate prediction as i did it for you!
