1. Life Preservers are basically Personal Floating Devices (PFO). These are considered as life saving equipments designed to keep one afloat in water The outer shell of life jacket is usually made of nylon or vinyl with material that keeps the life jacket afloat sewn inside. There are 3 types of substances inside a life jacket- (i inherently buoyaut (i) inflatable (lis hybrid. Earlier, cork, balso wood and kapok was being used. but now most used material is plastic foam , such as polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene. For they have all the 3 properties method mentioned above. 2.) Properties that we are required 1.) Flame retardent. 11. Good thermal stability 111) Good flexibility. 1) low lead content. the best option is PVC (Poly-vinyl-chloride). It can be injection molded, compression molded, calendered to make the desired product.
