2) Esters are not able to form hydrogen bond with water molecule due to absence of hydroxy group.

3) Ethanol is soluble in water because due to its polar hydroxy group it is able to form hydrogen bond with water molecule.

4) Sodium salt of butanoic acid is soluble in water because of its ionic nature.
