Answer #1

Resolving power is:

$$ \theta=1.22 \frac{\lambda}{d} $$

The angle is less for shorter wavelengths. That is for shorter wavelengths, it diffracts less, so, it provides better resolution.

Since, blue is shorter wavelength, it give blue, because of its shorter wave length So the correct option is " \(\mathrm{C}\)

    28. When a narrow beam of white light is normally incident on a diffraction grating, you observe that the light to either side forms a complete spectrum from blue to red. Then you see that the spectrum repeats, but this time you see blue, then green, yellow, and purple, green, etc. The purple seems to be a mixture of red and blue light together. As you work through the problem, you conclude that blue light of wavelength 420 nm has...

When red light shines on a piece of metal, no electrons are released. When the red light is slowly changed to shorter-wavelength light (basically progressing through the rainbow), nothing happens until yellow light shines on the metal, at which point electrons are released from the metal. If this metal is replaced with a metal having a higher work function, which light would have the best chance of releasing electrons from the metal? If this metal is replaced with a metal...

Constanta Part A If you use light of this wavelength, what would be the energy (in eV) of a single photon? To investigate the structure of extremely small objects, such as viruses, the wavelength of the probing wave should be about one-tenth the size of the object for sharp images. But as the wavelength gets shorter, the energy of a photon of light gets greater and could damage or destroy the object being studied. One alternative is to use electron...

Absorption and transmission: When a photon of light hits a molecule of gas or a particle in the atmosphere, there are three possibilities: 1) it can be absorbed (the energy is converted to heat), 2) it can be reflected (it continues on but in a different direction), 3) or it can be transmitted. These processes determine our ability to see distant objects (such as the mountains around Los Angeles and Irvine) and the colors in the sky (such as blue...
