In row transposition cipher the plaintext are written row-by-row in rectangle and the ciphertext are written out by writing the columns as specified by the key. It is different from substitution cipher, as there is no substitutions of symbol in this cipher. Frequency analysis is not useful to break the row transposition cipher like in case of substitution cipher, as symbols are not changed in the row transposition cipher. In row transposition cipher, the count of a symbol is same both in plain text and ciphertext, thus making it not susceptable to frequency analysis.
