Let's say a student decides to vist the vending machine for a bottle of water during the class break. He puts in his dollar, and what, no bottle? He pushes the vending button again and again with no luck and then proceeds to whack the machine along the side! Well this speedy and quick attempt to solve a problem by whacking the machine may or may not work this time, regardless of whether it has in the past.

Trial and error technique.

Trial and error is a problem solving method which involves the number of trails to find the solution and ruling out those do not work. Here, also he is trying every possible trial which he can do to solve the problem and even he is not sure that the trial which he is going to do will work out or not.
