In the ballistic galvanometer the charge Q passes through the coil in a small fraction of the time required for the full swing of the coil. What basic mechanical property must the coil possess in order that the swing continue after the deflecting torque has vanished?

it means that inorder to reduce the damping,the coil must be wound on a conducting frame
