The four statements below all involve evaluating a student’s essay. “When evaluating your essay, why don’t you try applying the four criteria we learned last week to critique your written work?” is most likely to encourage students’ sense of autonomy.

This statement would encourage the student to think about his own work and motivate him to act in his own in order to make things better. This sense of autonomy would make learning much easier because they would comply if only they believe in what the teacher says. So, the teacher is suppose bring out the ownership in the students in terms of their works.
