The movie “The Martian” can be viewed through the framework of project management. There are two different but simultaneous projects going on in The Martian. One is the survival project of Mark Watney and the other is the project aiming to save him. Watney has the right skills for his survival project: he’s a botanist, he knows how to repair a broken Pathfinder and the most important thing is he doesn’t panic even in his first day alone on Mars. On the other hand, he’s not alone in this project. The members of the ‘remote’ team helping him are trying their best to achieve their goal. This is a good example for the importance of the communication between the team even if they are far away!

Yes, Mark Watney is a champion. He champion is one who not only wins but has everything under control so that the desired result can be achieved efficiently. Here Mark Watney Perform Integrated Control inside and outside. Monitored and maintained the right communication so that the expected result can be achieved in the given time period and as required. He kept everything under control and kept himself calm. This is a story of Watney's survival and strength of humans that is found in sound and a reasoning mind. He was alone being helped by a large team for his rescue, but he was calm , patient, and reasonable. The movie depicted his ingenuity, and his presence of mind as in the movie we can see how is making inventories for himself from his resources made calculations to understand and find out exactly when he will die of hunger, and becoming Mars’ first potato farmer. He finds out a way to contact back , modified his meager means of communication into a complex code system. The only thing on which Mark Watney rely upon is his brainpower.

Mark Watney was a true champion as he depicted the spectacular power of the mind in man’s life and his struggle for survival. Even in such uncertain condition he didn't leave hope to survive and did everything. One time one will feel towards him as he is in disguise and on other hand on seeing him one will feel as encouraged spirit.
