Research cases of illegal wiretapping within the U.S., and explain why a given instance of wiretapping was illegal.

Answer)

Let us mention the article and news about Edward Snowden. Edward Snowden, an American computer professional, who was a former Central Intelligence Agency employee revealed classified information to many sources without being authorized to do so. This lead to legal and moral issues involved. The moral analysis of the Snowden's news has ethical concerns on the way the government used to spy on the common citizens unethically.

Thus illegal wiretapping within the U.S. was performed as per the leaked data by Edward. Thus there was an ethical concern in this to prevent public harm, invasion of privacy, and the government's involvement. Ethical concerns also include that the government should not function or do anything unethical by which the trust of the people on the government fades away.

This instance of wiretapping was illegal as it was not performed with the permissions required by the users and the citizens of the country and the law does not permit direct monitoring and wiretapping into the private lives of the people. The US courts also rule that the bulk collection of the telephone metadata was unlawful and thus it is illegal.

However, this issue could have been handled in a better way than a data leak by Edward Snowden. Because by data leak he made the government feeling vulnerable and insecure. Thus this could have been handled in a more matured way.
