Explain how and why freshwater wetlands produce methane but can be either sources of or sinks for carbon. (word limit 150)
Please type the answer, thank you.
Ans. Wetlands are the sinks for carbon and sources for carbon dioxide and methane. The wetland is inhabited by a number of plants and animals. Due to the water logging conditions, there is anaerobic condition leads to the formation of methane. Here the decomposition of the carbon laden matter is also very slow. The presence of anaerobic microbes leads to the consumption of oxygen thus enhancing the reduction of oxygen levels even more. This leads to increased fermentation, a by product of which is methane.
The variety of plants present in the wetlands take up carbon dioxide and thus are sinks of carbon. They utilize the carbon dioxide and take part in photosynthesis. Moreover the microorganisms present in the wetlands take up the oxygen liberated due to photosynthesis and breakdown the organic matter, very slowly.

Methane ts for most global methane production. During a disproportionation reaction, a carbohydnos goba glucose) is simultaneously oxidized and reduced to form carbon (CH). This process occurs in wetlands, rice paddies, domestic 11. Explain what types compounds get transported in the phloem and why Explain the concept of sources and sinks in terms of phloem translocation; know examples of source and sink organs for sugars and nitrogenous compounds Explain how a leaf can be a sink and a source for photosynthate (sugars) at different times
The Mehta firm can normally produce 75 stainless steel sinks in a month. This is done during regular production hours at a cost of $100 per sink. If demand in any one month cannot be satisfied by regular production, the production manager has three other choices: (1) he can produce up to 40 more sinks per month in overtime but at a cost of $150 per sink; (2) he can purchase a limited number of sinks from a friendly competitor...

Under certain circumstances, carbon dioxide, CO2(g), can be made to react with hydrogen gas, H2(g), to produce methane, CH4(g), and water vapor, H2O(g): CO2(g)+4H2(g)→CH4(g)+2H2O(g) How many moles of hydrogen gas would be needed to react with excess carbon dioxide to produce 53.6 moles of water vapor? Express your answer with the appropriate units. For example, write the unit moles as mol.
