Answer #1

One of the most important challenges that teachers who work in a multicultural environment face is to handle and treat students equally while at the same time ensuring that students from different environment understand, accept and appreciate the differences between the children. One way a teacher could do this is by making the students talk about their own cultures first thus, providing an initial information about the practices, values and customs. Secondly, children could be grouped together in a way that they are mixed in regular group tasks thus, giving them an opportunity to understand each other better and to create a better bonding. Thirdly, the teacher could also make the students research about the importance of other cultures which would help them explore the good things in various other cultures. Finally, children should be given an opportunity to role play people from other cultures thus, they would feel that everyone is important and everyone is right from their own point of view.
