Given:

Sample size = n = 16

Sample mean = T = 13 cm

Sample Standard deviation = s =1 cm

Confidence level = c = 95%

Formula:

(\bar{x}-E \: \: < \mu < \: \: \bar{x}+E )

where

E=t_{c} \times s / \sqrt{n}

tc is t critical value for c = 95%  confidence level

Thus two tail area = 1 - c = 1 - 0.95 = 0.05

df = n - 1 =  16 - 1 = 15

Look in  t table for df = 15 and two tail area = 0.05 and find t critical value

tc = 2.131

thus

E=t_{c} \times s / \sqrt{n}

E=2.131 \times 1 / \sqrt{16}

E=2.131 \times 1 / 4

E=0.53275

E=0.5

thus

(\bar{x}-E \: \: < \mu < \: \: \bar{x}+E )

(13-0.5 \: \: < \mu < \: \: 13+0.5 )

(12.5 \: \: < \mu < \: \: 13.5 )

Thus

Lower Limit = 12.5

Upper limit = 13.5
