A solid ball is released from rest and rolls down a hillside that slopes downward at an angle of 35 degrees from the horizontal. What minimum value must the coefficient of static friction between the ball and the hill have for no slippage to occur? Do not round during the calculation, and keep at least two decimal places in your answer.

Answer #1

here,

theta = 35 degree

for no slippage to occur

the coefficient of stactic friction , us = tan(theta)

us = tan(35)

us = 0.70

the coefficient of static friction must be 0.70
